SOMATIC PSYCHOTHERAPY:

I hold space using therapeutic skills including talking therapy, guided meditation, self-compassion visualizations, and somatic practices. I work with these experiential/somatic tools, as research shows that lasting therapeutic change occurs when experiences are processed somatically, rather than just cognitively. These have also proven to work for me and most of my clients.

I have training and experience working with various therapeutic approaches, and therefore use an Integrative and Holistic approach:

  • Person-Centred Therapy.

  • Focusing.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy.

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Psychoeducation).

  • Embodied Somatic movement.

  • Being emotionally affected by ethical dilemmas, not being able to do your work to your standards.

  • Work-related trauma (intense anxiety and distressing memories related to a threatening or extremely challenging traumatic event. Perhaps witnessing a medical incident, being attacked by a client, etc).
